Where to Get Brunch in Kingston

Brunch is cheerful, sociable, and inciting. It is talk-compelling. It puts you in a good temper; it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow-beings. It sweeps away the worries and cobwebs of the week.

Life is short. You deserve to feel satisfied with yourself and your fellow-beings while sweeping away the worries and cobwebs of the week. Here are five (six?) restaurants for brunching in Kingston.

1. Cannonball Café

If you want casual cafe brunch vibes, Cannonball has three locations in Kingston—Manor Park, Sovereign North, and New Kingston.

They serve breakfast and lunch items all day making it an easy midweek brunch stop.

The New Kingston and Manor Park locations don’t open on the weekends, but the Sovereign North location normally sees a good crowd for the Saturday/Sunday morning brunch.

WongaRecommends:

  • the Watermelon-Lime Juice

2. Tea Tree Crêperie

If you want France without the plane fare, Tea Tree Crêperie in Summit Kingston is another everyday brunch spot.

They sell a variety of classic European brunch foods (think omelettes, eggs benedict, English breakfast, etc.), but it is a crêperie and we highly recommend you try a crêpe.

(If you’ve never had a crêpe, imagine a super thin pancake, flat like a tortilla, folded around an either sweet or savoury filling).

WongaRecommends:

  • Smoked Marlin Crepe

  • Frozen Mint Lemonade

3. Dim Sum @ Dragon Court or Jade Garden

If you want a Chinese style brunch, Dragon Court Restaurant and Jade Garden Restaurant both serve dim sum on Sundays.

Dim sum is a range of small, mostly bite sized, Chinese dishes.

At traditional dim sum restaurants, servers walk around with the food on carts and you choose what you want from each cart as it passes. Sadly, restaurants in Jamaica don’t have the carts, and you place your order like you would in any other restaurant.

Ordering can feel a bit intimidating as the menu lists the names of the dishes without any pictures or descriptions. But, pro tip, both Dragon Court and Jade Garden have dim sum picture menus on their Instagrams.

WongaRecommends:

  • Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow)

  • Siu Mai (steamed pork dumplings)

  • Baked BBQ Pork Bun

  • Seasonal Vegetables

4. Fromage

If you want a fancy restaurant where you can really dress up and make a special occasion out of brunch, Fromage Bistro (8 Hillcrest Ave, Kgn. 6) and Fromage Brasserie (Market Place at 67 Constant Spring Road) both offer brunch on the weekends.

Fromage calls themself a European Jamaican fusion gourmet restaurant and it definitely shows on their brunch menu. They have classic brunch fare, like pancakes and French toast, along with more Jamaican inspired items like salmon rundown. They also, of course, have fun brunch cocktails.

WongaRecommends:

  • Hazelnut Praline French Toast

  • Seafood Cake Benedict (if you like runny eggs)

  • Peach Bellini

5. Terra Nova Brunch Buffet

Terra Nova understands the art of a good buffet—as they should considering they’ve hosted buffets for decades. With that much experience and a Sunday Brunch menu with over 80 items, they really can’t miss.
