Happy 63 Years of Independence Jamaica!

Of course we can’t celebrate our Emancipendence without honouring our food culture. From Denbigh on Emancipation weekend, the original agricultural, industrial and food show; to CB Chicken’s PAN competition on August 31st; August events invite us to look at the journey our food takes from farm to pan to belly.

We also have at least three different food festivals happening around Jamaica this month. Whether you want family fun day vibes at the MoBay Jerk and Food Festival, or big people party vibes at the Jack Daniel’s Backyaad BBQ, event a keep and food will be there.

I have so much content sitting in my phone, waiting to be edited, so stay tuned for summer videos. You will not believe how much ice cream my sister and I have eaten in the past three weeks.

Until then, share this list of food events with your favourite food festival partner; check out WongaBingo; drop a comment to say hi so we don’t feel like we’re writing into the void; and have a wongaful August.

P.S. We update this post as we find more events, so check back throughout the month for newly added events (or just to help boost our website visits). Also, keep an eye on the @wongagyal Instagram story for even more event and blog updates.

Tiana (aka WongaGyal) claims her spirit animal is baked macaroni & cheese. She’s not powered by coffee, but matcha or chai lattes will do - always on ice.
