WongaGyal x Yello Juice Bar: Cabbage Patch

This was a controversial recipe when it was first posted on my Instagram for the Yello Juice Bar series, but I PROMISE you… di ting SHOT.
Patch up your immune system with this purple cabbage juice that packs a punch!

All cabbages are particularly high in vitamin C, which supports immune health and acts as a powerful antioxidant. Purple / red cabbage is additionally packed with anthocyanins, which has even more antioxidant properties and has been known to reduce the risk of heart disease. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, and may even help to soothe stomach ulcers.

Adding pineapple and lime is the cherry on top - providing a healthy dose of vitamins A, B6, C, E and K!

Recipe (serves 4)

Ingredients:

1/2 head of small purple / red cabbage

2 cups of pineapple chunks

2 limes

1 cup of water

Directions:

  1. If you own a juicer, cut the cabbage into smaller pieces and add to the juicer, followed by the pineapple. Skip to step 6.

  2. If you do not own a juicer, roughly chop cabbage into small pieces and add to a blender, along with 1/2 cup of water. Blend on low.

  3. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of water (if needed) while the cabbage mixture is blending.

  4. Add the pineapple to the blender, and blend on medium speed.

  5. Using cheesecloth or a super fine strainer, separate the pulp from the liquid for a smooth cabbage and pineapple juice.

  6. Cut limes in half and squeeze directly into the cabbage and pineapple juice (use a strainer to prevent the seeds from getting into the juice). Gently stir for about 30 seconds.

  7. Chill juice in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Pour over ice and enjoy!

Tiana (aka WongaGyal) claims her spirit animal is baked macaroni & cheese. She’s not powered by coffee, but matcha or chai lattes will do - always on ice.
